Sheila Sorensen
Sheila Cottrell Sorensen brings over 15 years of volleyball coaching experience to the
Wildcat Volleyball Club. She has spent the previous two years coaching for UTAH ICE
VBC. Her 13 Power Team qualified for Jr. Nationals in 2010 and played in Reno, NV.
Her 14 Power Team won First place in the first ever Utah AAU National Qualifier 2011.
She has also been a Club Director for Weber VBC, and an assistant Director for UTAH
ICE VBC, and High Country VB coach.
She has also worked at the Intermountain Volleyball Association (IVA) assisting with
membership, tournaments, officials and High Performance.
Sheila has coached at Copper Hills High School, Weber High School, and currently
coaches at North Ogden Jr. High. She is Impact certified and has attended Gold Medal
Squared training, and been on the coaching staff of USU summer camp.
As a player (forever ago), she played at Weber High School winning a State
Championship, with a 25-0 record that year.
Played on one of the first Club teams in Utah under coach George Miles, and attended
Jr. Nationals in Omaha, Nebraska.
Played at the University of Utah, from 1982-86, as a Middle Blocker. She still holds a
few records there: Single season Kills-500. Career Block Solos-184, single season
Block Solos- 3 sets and 5 sets, and single season Total Blocks- 5 set. She earned First
team All-Conference her Junior and Senior years.
Personal: Married to Mike Sorensen since 1984, they have 5 children. Her daughter
Shay plays on the Utah State Volleyball team.
